TMI Tuesday: we decided to go running and now we want to die edition. I haven’t posted a thank monday it’s Tuesday photo in a long time and it’s about time I started it back up. Anyway, I have been eating like a garbage truck since school has started and I am beginning to resemble one too, so yesterday I decided enough is enough. Here’s to eating healthier and exercising so I don’t look like a beached whale this summer.
I AM going to start running again. This is ridiculous. I cannot allow my school life get in the way of feeling fit and strong…and let’s face it. I’m not getting any younger.
This is my game plan: Run a 3-4 times a week. If I run every day I’ll get stress fractures again (so annoying) Increase my distance each time.
The hitch: I’m not willing to pay for a monthly gym membership. I need suggestions on good/warm but inexpensive running gear. I live in the midwest where we usually have tons of snow by now but so far it has only rained a bunch and it gets down into the low 30’s. The last few days have been in the teens but the forcast predicts it won’t stay this cold for long.
I got the Jawbone UP for Christmas so I am excited to try it out but I also wanted to try some fitness apps on my iPhone. Does anyone have suggestions on either of these things?
Nursing school…you have killed my running habits.

sitting at a scout meeting, somewhat listening to a popcorn sales spiel, typing up psych clinical paperwork, looking for a research article for peds clinical, updating tumblr, stuffing my face with french fries and a coke…yup, I’m living the american dream.
maybe I’ll run later.
Just got back from a quick run. It’s hotter then hades but I have been lazy the last few weeks and it’s starting to show. I feel much better now and I’m pleases with how my new vibram fivefingers felt during my run.
I wanted to go farther but from everything I read about these shoes, you need to take it easy at first. So, that’s what I’ll do.
Disclaimer: I may have also gone running because one of my girlfriends (who is super competitive and HAS to be the best in everything) called to tell me she hasn’t drank any soda in 13 weeks and she has lost 17 inches in that time span. (she is my workout partner too)
I have been seeing these around at home and did some inquiring about the purpose of them. Turns out you only use three or four muscles when you run in your regular tennis shoes but these shoes simulate running barefoot, allowing you to use over 33 muscles in your feet and legs.
I suffer from shin splints and other calf issues so while we are in Colorado, I purchased this pair and am going to hope for the best! Here’s to a better run!
4 miles in under 40 minutes. My best distance and time yet. I could not be more excited!
