I ran to walgreens today. Tried to get in the checkout lane and this guy was in my way. I said “excuse me”, he apologized and I replied “no worries, you’re good”. He seemed to think this was an invitation for conversation. The next thing I know, he is standing in my personal zone asking me the most random question. Here is our conversation:
Random Dude: “What did you think of Whitney Houston’s death?”
Me: “It is so sad, I hope she knew Jesus.”
Random Dude: “Why was it sad?”
Me: awkward pause…”Because she died?”
Random Dude: “WRONG!” (walks away)
Excuse me, I thought that death is generally sad. While it can be a positive experience when a person’s suffering has come to an end and they have come to terms with their death, it is still entangled with sorrow.
I need to stop making eye contact with strangers. Without fail, I attract the weirdos.
